From the deserts of East a thousand years ago a mighty empire arose, within a hundred years it had become a medieval superpower. Its unifying language was Arabic and its religion, Islam, lay at the heart of its power.

Much of the knowledge and many of the inventions produced by the Islamic world are still with us. This series will take you through some of those inventions.

Lion of the Desert

Omar Mukhtar (1862 – September 16, 1931), of the Mnifa tribe, was born in the small village of Janzour, near Tobruk in eastern Barqa (Cyrenaica). He organized and, for nearly twenty years from 1912, led native resistance to Italian control of Libya. Omar Al-Mukhtar, the famous Muslim fighter, the lion of the desert. I don’t have the words to describe this man. This movie will better describe him than my words. Please watch it and let us know what you think.

When the Moors Ruled in Spain (History of Muslim rule in Spain)

The conquest of Spain by Muslims opened a new era for the Peninsula. It brought about a social revolution in which the freedom of religion was fully recognized. The intoleration and persecution of the Christians gave place to toleration and large-heartedness. The captured Christian cities received favorable terms which were faithfully observed. Individual acts of violence by the Muslim soldiers were severely punished. No properties or estates were confiscated. Instead, the Muslims introduced an intelligent system of taxation, which soon brought prosperity to the peninsula and made it a model country in the west. The Christians had their own judges to settle their disputes. All communities had equal opportunities for entry into the public services.

The Arrivals

Few days ago I received an email from a friend with a link in it, and the subject was The Arrivals. I had no idea what it was; I thought it would be a funny short video that my friend is sharing, as usual. However, I was wrong twice. It was neither funny nor short, and I must warn you if you want to watch this documentary. It consists of 51 episodes, each episode’s length is 10 minutes, but it will not bother you once you start watching the first video.

If you are one of those conspiracy theorists, or like conspiracies, then I must tell you that you will love this series. It is full of such theories put together to give you the greater picture.
