Karim Benzema has what it takes to be a new Ronaldo
The Muslim footballer Karim Benzema has what it takes to become a new Ronaldo, the Spanish clubs former striker who is Benzema’s inspiration, said Brazilian left-back Marcelo on Tuesday.
Benzema proved that $50 million is a small price that Real paid to transfer him from Lyon. Real won their opening pre-season friendly 1-0 against Irish champions Shamrock Rovers on Monday, thanks to a goal from Benzema.
“That did not surprise me because Benzema is a great player. He is very young and we can’t yet compare him to Ronaldo but he could become like him,” said Marcelo.
“He helps the team a great deal with his work and his magnificent passes,” he added.
According to Spanish media Benzema stole the show from Cristiano Ronaldo, whom Real signed for a record fee of around 94 million Euros, during the pre-season game against Shamrock Rovers. Christiano Ronaldo was taken off …

Michigan: Islamic Games 09 July 24-26
Over the past few years the Annual Islamic Games attracted much excitement and participation. Since the Islamic Games is developing at a rapid pace and will soon be launching its Regional Games, I thought it would be best to share a bit of history with the TSM readers.
The Islamic Games was initially a project of the Muslim Workers Activites (MWA), a very active organization made up of brothers and sisters primarily from Guyana, South America. Most of their members were youths and very involved in Islamic development, sports and athletics; as a result they started the Annual Islamic Games to bring Muslim athletes and their family together to compete in unity and brotherhood, and that was the beginning. The original organizing committee included Merajudeen Khan, Salaudeen Nausrudeen, Fazal Rahaman, Abuzar Ahmed, Aftabuddin Nausrudeen, Shaikh Abdullah Adhami and a few others. The small but very focused group successfully organized the Games from …

Afridi fifty seals title for Pakistan
Pakistan has won the Twenty20 World Cup with an eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka at Lord’s in London.
Man-of-the-match Shahid Afridi made an unbeaten 54 as Pakistan made 139-2 to overhaul Sri Lanka’s total. Kamran Akmal added 37 as he put on 48 for the first wicket with Shahzaib Hasan.
Sri Lanka’s failure to take early wickets proved crucial as Afridi and Shoaib Malik (24) clinched victory with eight balls to spare.
Earlier, Sri Lanka, led by captain Kumar Sangakkara had recovered to reach 138-6 after Abdul Razzaq had ripped through its top order to take 3-20.
Sangakkara anchored the innings, top-scoring with an unbeaten 64 as a succession of batting partners came and went until Angelo Mathews (35 not out) arrived at the crease and helped steer the pre-match favourite to a defendable, but ultimately inadequate total.
Slow start
Pakistan made a sluggish start to the run chase and nearly lost Hasan in the fourth …
